we're long overdue watching these rejects upset us in their superbowl.

Doc Sadler is outclassed in this one.

Expect an EMAW victory.

Obsession noted.

I'll laugh my ass off if NU wins....and don't fool yourself......Sadler has no athletes, but he can flat out coach.

If NU ever gets any recruits, their domination over KSU in basketball will continue for another decade.

Great thread. jerkit

What exactly will be fun about pushing a small child into the mud and then kicking them in the head with an iron boot?

What's fun is watching kittie fan seize the opportunity after a good showing, and remind everyone that they haven't ever been there before.

Poor little fucks. frown

We have been there.  Lots of times.  Just not in the last 20 years. Speaking of not having been there, how's your record in the tournament?

If you are trying to make the point that Nebraska sucks in basketball, don't bother. NU sucks in basketball. Always has. Never won a NCAA tournament game.

Congrats on your fine team. Looks like you'll finish ahead on NU in the Big XII standings for the first time in a decade.

Not only does Nebraska suck at hoops...but their fans are extremely ignorant of the sport.

In the last decade...Kstate has finished ahead of NU in the standings in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2004 (tied), and 2003. I couldn't find any past standings for the year 2000.

Kstate's first win in Lincoln since 2006. Like I said, NU has played Kstate tough in Lincoln even against the best Kstate teams. That's a compliment to Nebraska.

That being said, Doc Sadler is, at best, a solid long term hire that has NIT written all over him. We struggled with the same type with Asbury and Wooldridge. They just didn't have the rolodex to bring in the top talent.

We practically have the DC Assault in our back pocket with Dalonte Hill nd Curtis Malone being best friends. If you don't know who Curtis Malone is then you haven't been paying attention on how to land D-1a talent that is going to win you alot of basketball games.

I like Turgeon better than Boschee and ....

Well I guess that's the only one I can think of.

Glad to hear that A&M started a program.  Hopefully you will bring it with you the next time you visit Manhattan.

Bring the band too, but leave the gay cheerleaders at home.

TIA!

On the bright side for Smoothie, I liked Kevin Pritchard better than both Turgeon and Boschee.

It turns out that Pritchard is one of the most despicable people to walk the earth, so my judgement of people may be off.

Turgeon might be a good guy.  But he really does need to bring along a basketball team the next time he comes to the Little Apple.

lulz

Losing to Nebraska in basketball, with the exception of the Danny Nee era, is considered a firing offense for a coach at any university that has any self-respect.

Man, Nee was a crazy motherfraker. Whatever happened to him? Most bizarre coach ever, in the league. And yeah, I dealt with Tubbs.

Bullshit.

Norm was crazier.

Norm was an asshole. He was crazy like a fox.

I was sitting in press row at a Mizzou-Kansas State game, and some Wildchirp slob was giving him a hard time after the game (K-State won by single digits, as I remember). Norm turns to him, and shouts back, so half the people left in the stadium could hear him - "Yeah, we lost, but look at you. You purple gomer. Don't crash your tractor driving home." It was hysterical.

Sit down, Norm.

never heard of either of them, please do tell some crazy basketball coaches stories

Danny Nee, at the Big Eight tournament, circa early 90s. Some idiot asks him, now that the Huskers have won their first game, what the team's goals are.

Nee, looks silent at the dude for almost ten seconds. "Our objective is to win. To win. To win. TO WIN."

He went on like that for about 20 seconds. Just dead silence after that.

Nee's crazy factor was aided by the fact that he had jet black hair (probably bottle aided) and the lightest blue eyes I've seen outside of the Baltic States. Offensively, he has some scary good teams. It was common for them to lay a 100 on you.

Then there was Tubbs. In a game against Mizzou in Norman (I wasn't there, but watched it on teevee) the Sooner fans were throwing so much debris that Tubbs got on a mic, and said, "I don't care how bad the officiating is; please don't throw things on the court." A near riot ensued, and OU pulled the game out. If I remember right, that was the game when Norm had heart trouble, and Dr. Detroit (Rich Daly) coached the team.

I knew an Antler, who told this story. When OU came to town under Tubbs, one of the Antler drank a solution - if you said the name I'd know it - designed to make you throw up. They camped out at OU's hotel in Columbia, and when Tubbs came to dine at the hotel restaurant. The Antler drank the solution, and gross hilarity ensued. "Are you Billy Tubbs? Buuurp, uhhhhhh ....."

Man, I'm getting old. But Big Eight basketball was a total circus.

I will say that the coach I had the most repect for from the 80s was Iowa State's Johnny Orr. He seemed like a really great guy. It was colored by the fact that I was a student journalist, there was some kind of problem at Iowa State before we played them, I left a message on his anwering machine (pre mobile days, kiddies) and he called my work line back FOUR times, and answered my questions. A class act. I would have like to have seen him win more.

I've got much more, but it's late. Tigers 70, Buffs 55 in the second. No point in hanging on any longer.

Congrats to Tech (didn't expect that), Wildchirps, Aggies, and I assume land-thieves.

any chance we can just convince NU to take their loss on paper....name us a score and some stats....give us the win and save us the trouble of having to run circles around Sadler's broken wagon?

No?

Okay, well we'll just have to show up, play our B game and win by 15.
